Should I keep writing?

March is here. Most people have given up their resolutions by the end of January. I have been able to stick to mine for 2 full months. Writing at least 3 times a week was one of two big new ones for me.

The problem is that writing takes time. I’ve usually taken about an hour out of my day to write. It’s been great as I can put my thoughts down and make a coherent story. But I’m now struggling to find the time. Life is happening and my full time job is demanding more of me than I anticipated a couple months ago. Now I’m wondering if this resolution is the one I should cut out to feel better in my skin.

You see, I don’t want to give up the great progress I’ve made the last few years, including:

  • Reading more
  • Exercising regularly
  • Eating better
  • Meditating

All those things take time. And I gladly take the time for them. My other big resolution is to buy 1 or 2 rental properties.

So here are the main reason to keep writing:

  • Creates accountability.
  • Structure my thoughts.
  • Provides exploration.
  • Building up a new “muscle”.

Reasons to stop writing (regularly):

  • Time.
  • Not planning on making it a source of income.

On balance, it seems I should continue. And yet, am I stretching myself too thin? Is this sustainable?
